In his book Iota Phi Theta: The Founding & Ascendancy – from the perspective of a founder of Iota about how one of the fastest growing Black fraternities in the country originally was conceived on the campus of Morgan State College, now known as Morgan State University just “within view of the memorial statue of Frederick Douglass” on the footsteps of Hurt Gymnasium in 1963 – John D. But on June 30, 2015, Albert “Bus” Hicks, one of twelve founders of Iota Phi Theta, passed away and entered Alpha Iota Omega Chapter leaving behind a great legacy – painted in brown and gold. on Facebook in the age of the Internet, and get a response is, to me, entirely awesome because the other four Black fraternities recognized by the National Pan-Hellenic Council are unable to do so. I wish we would not have done that as much.I have long considered the fact that quite a few of the Iota founders are still living among us today to be one of our greatest treasures – the ability to post on the wall of founders John D. Since step shows have a required minimum and maximum time frame, we spent some time building the suspense. One thing that I felt could have been better, would be if we had a grasp of time in the show. In this segment, we flipped my line brother, Maurice, and twisted him like a jump rope, while another brother jumped over him. One example of what I truly enjoyed was the human jump rope. I love the fact that I helped to orchestrate the ideas and concept of the show, and performing it in front of all those people was even better. What I truly loved about this show, is the fact that I am in the show. In this segment, we performed each member of the Divine 9 Sororities’ signature steps, as a means to show them our appreciation, love, and respect. An example of this is the Sorority Tribute. There are, however, certain points in the show, where certain steps are geared toward certain groups of people. There really is no intended audience for the show. The audio features that you will hear in the show use my voice as that of Pimp Luscious. This concept was created by me, and my frat brothers. In the end, both teams decide to come together and work together and end their feud over who is the better team. He is an old school brother of Iota Phi Theta relishing in his memory of the steps he used to do, ‘back in the day.’ The steppers make up two different teams: an Old School team, who is replicating the steps of Pimp Luscious’ day, and the New School team, which feature more dynamic, stylized steps. The overall theme of the show is the story of ‘Pimp Luscious’. This step show is one that we competed in at Bowie State University for their Homecoming 2007. Stepping today has come to include acrobatics, music, etc. Stepping connects its roots to peoples of Africa, as early as African miners using synchronized hand claps and foot stomps to pass the time.

Stepping was created by members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, which is the governing body for the Divine 9, the nine historically black Fraternities and Sororities. Stepping is the art of synchronized movement within a group of people.

One of the ways that we have fun is that we step. We are a social and service based organization, and in addition to our community service projects and iniatives, we have fun. Founded September 19, 1963, and chartered her at the University of Maryland, College Park on August 13, 1971, we were the first black Greek Lettered Organization to be chartered on this campus. I am a brother of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated. So, when I was asked to blog about some kind of media, the first thing that came to my mind was the fact that I am a stepper.
